My name is Valmir Emerim, I am married to Vera Lucia Neto Emerim and we have a daughter Tamara. I had been a public school teacher and a university professor for more than 0 year. After retiring, I decided to research the genealogy of the Emerim family. I descend directly from Adam and Margaretha Weber, the first Emmerich who came to Brazil aboard the ship Marquez de Vianna in 1828. It was only a few time ago I could establish that Adam and Margaretha were the ancestor of the Emerim family in Brazil. I chose to built this site for all the descendents of this family to have access to their genealogy
Emerim or Emmerich familyWhen and where
Everything began with the arrival of Adam Emmerich, her wife Margaretha and their four children Peter, Anton, Maria and Maria Gertrud. They arrived at the port of Nossa Senhora do Desterro, (Florianopolis) in November, 12th. 1828. The ship was the Marquez of Vianna.The family established in São Pedro de Alcântara, state of Santa Catarina, in a little village called Loro. They were Roman Catholic farmers. The 1830 census registered they were living in São José in the same state. Anton Emmerich moved to Torres in the State of Rio Grande do Sul in 1840. He married Mariana Magnus and after her death he married Maria José. Anton had has name changed to Antonio Francisco Emerim for reasons to be known yet. There is strong suspicion that the Catholic fathers of the time changed Emmerich to Emerim to make easy the Portuguese pronunciation of the name. He became a merchant in the town. His death was in 1886Antonio Francisco had five children with Mariana Magnus. They were Pedro Antonio Emerim, João Antonio Emerim, Antonio Francisco Emerim Junior, Quintiliano Antonio Emerim and Carolina Emerim. Their children and grandchildren are shown in this research, some with dates of birth and death.
